Learn to Play Hockey

Learn the fundamentals of the game through AdventHealth Center Ice’s group lessons – A great way to learn to play!

Want to get your child started in ice hockey but not sure where to begin or what program to register for? Our video (above) will take you through the process of learning this great sport!

IC’ Hockey Super Stars 101
IC’s Hockey Super Stars 201

IC’s Hockey Super Stars 101

Our IC’s Hockey Super Stars 101 program is designed to introduce basic hockey skills, such as stick and puck handling, drill exercises and team work for children under 14. Skaters must have completed IC’s Snowballs or IC’s Skate School to participate. Upon completion, participants can follow the pipeline to IC’s Hockey Super Stars 201; that will lead to Rec Hockey.

Registration Includes: Hockey jersey

For Ages 5-14

Required Equipment

  • Hockey stick
  • HECC hockey helmet (with cage)
  • Hockey gloves, shin pads, elbow pads
  • Hockey skates (can rent skates)

IC’s Hockey Super Stars 201

Our Learn to Play Hockey program is designed for individuals who have passed IC’s Hockey Super Stars 101 or higher and want to learn the fundamentals of the game. Through different exercises, students will learn skating and hockey skills that are needed to become a great hockey player.

For Ages 6 – 17

  • Hockey stick
  • HECC hockey helmet (with cage)
  • Hockey gloves, shin pads, elbow pads
  • Hockey skates (can rent skates)

  • Unlimited Classes (includes Unlimited Public Sessions) $399 
  • Includes Skate Rental and 2 Public Skate Passes

  • Series Plus Pass (up to 34 classes) $225
  • Series Pass (9 classes) $450
  • Drop-In $30
  • Includes 2 Free Stick and Puck Sessions
  • Tuesday/Thursday 5:15-6:00pm
  • Saturday/Sunday 10:15-11:00am & 11:45-12:30pm

Class Recommendations

  • Students should arrive at least 15 minutes before class to get their skates on and prepare for class
  • Adults should arrive at least 20 minutes before class to get their skates on and prepare for class.

Students are encouraged to try to wear full hockey equipment on the ice. We understand that this is not always an option, but we do ask that you wear the hockey jersey you are provided over your sweater or jacket if you are unable to wear full equipment.

**NOTE: AdventHealth Center Ice DOES NOT provide or rent helmets, jackets, gloves, or socks.**

Skate rentals are available if needed.

Cancellation information will be posted 2 hours before the Learn to Play Class begins.

There are no make-up classes.

Refunds are ONLY given for the following situations and are strictly enforced:

  • Notification of withdrawal from class two weeks prior to the first lesson.
  • Adult medical emergency with copy of physician’s verification provided.

**All requests must be submitted via E-mail to the Hockey Department**
